It’s far from soft, that’s for sure! There’s a heap of anti-MEQ in there with Dark Lances in each of the Raider squads, two Blasters in each of the Wych squads, not forgetting the Ravagers with three Disintergrators on them! This doesn’t get around the inherent weakness of the Raiders and Ravagers. Deploying on the board and not having first turn would definitely hurt. Deploying off the board would help, but then you’re relying on the luck of the reserve rolls.

This is where the Dark Eldar start to shine. With less than 1000 points. The current codex and troop costs are a little bit out of proportion with newer codices, so at small point games there is some serious punch in the above Dark Eldar list. Eight Dark Lances and two Talos at very high toughness; MEQ may as well not even show up!
So there are some truly heinous combinations out there and at the moment, the Dark Eldar list have very specific builds designed to hurt Marines and their equivalent.
Where the above list would really fall down would be against horde armies. The Splinter Rifles might do okay, but the Dark Lances are wasted pinging off single Gaunts or Ork foot troops. Even Imperial Guard would give it a good going over as only the Lord and the Talos have any real chance of getting into hand-to-hand combat.
Another pretty brutal list at under 1000 points:
2 or 3 raiders with dark lances, 10 warriors with 2 dark lances in each, 2 ravagers with the plasma cannons x 3, Archon with 2++on skyboard with drugs, powerweapon etc, Hermoculi and the Nightmare doll to reroll 1st turn.
Somewhat worrying, that one in particular.
